Lori Martin
With 40 years of experience as a teacher, principal and central office administrator, I have seen the impact that a challenging home life has on the lives of children. Over the years I earned a Bachelor's of Science, Master's, and Specialist's Degrees in Education, but my greatest teachers have been the children, families, and staff that I was blessed to encounter during my career.

Dana Rickley
I am the administrator for the Clay County Health Department and was one of the founding members of Clay Counts back in 2007. I am in charge of any of the fiscal responsibilities of the grant.

I came on as the Clay Counts community coordinator in January of 2024. My job is to promote activities, keep the website updated, and import data for the grant.

Laurel Affolter
As a lifetime community member, parent of children in Clay County, and teacher in USD #379, I hold a unique perspective on student growth and experience. I obtained both Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Kansas State University, respectively in Elementary Education with an Emphasis in English as a Second Language and Curriculum and Instruction. With 15 years of teaching experience ranging from 4th grade to undergraduates, working with marginalized and underserved populations has always been my passion.

I help lead the local chapter of the Teammates program. I am also a parent of USD 379 students and a Clay County Community Member and a volunteer for numerous other non-profits.

I am a counselor at Clay Center Community Middle School. I have Teaching, Counseling, and Administration Degrees.

I am a former Project Success Counselor, LPC, school counselor, educator, early childhood and parent mental health consultant. I am currently the counselor at Garfield Elementary and I help with our family farm.

DeAnna Coughlin
I am a counselor at Lincoln Elementary in Clay Center. My undergraduate degree is in Family Studies and Human Services. I also hold two Master's degrees: one in child development and one in school counseling. My experience working with diverse families gives me a unique perspective on the challenges families are facing today. I have worked with teen parents through the Parents as Teachers program in Raytown, Missouri (KC area).

I became associated with the Clay Counts Coalition through my job at KCLY/KFRM Radio. As a News Broadcaster for the area, I feel it's important to keep up and report the wonderful things the Coalition and YLinK Chapters are doing!

Pat Hayes
My education, previous background, and current position within the Clay Center Parks & Rec department allows me have a unique relationship with many different community groups as well as many different age groups in the community. I also serve as coach to youth teams in the community as well as at the high school level, so I am involved with youth/youth adults at many different levels. I also have 2 children growing up in Clay Center and attending schools in the USD 379 district.

My position as the School, Family & Community Connections Counselor for USD 379 is a natural fit for the coalition. I work to connect families with community resources, so I can provide a perspective relating to the needs of families in our community and the gaps that exist in fulfilling these needs.

As a student at the high school, I feel as though I offer insight into the youth perspective and help the coalition to better support the youth in the community. I've also gone through suicide prevention training as well as drug and alcohol prevention training through CADCA.

I am the executive director of Grow Clay County. I head the Community and Economic Development as well as event planning and provide a network for other professionals in the community and economic development fields.

Bill Robinson
I have 29 years of law enforcement experience in Clay Center, including 23 years as Chief of Police. I was also one of the founding members of Clay Counts.

I became involved with the Clay Counts Coalition when I became the YlinK sponsor for both our high school and middle school. I would love to make a positive effect in our youth community.

My education and experience is in managing mental illness with psychotropic medications and psychotherapy across the lifespan. I bring a healthcare perspective to our group.

Audrey Waid
Currently, I work with children and families who experience poverty. I am also a licensed attorney. I have worked in multiple social service sectors including working with women and children who experience domestic violence, first time juvenile offenders, adults with mental and developmental disabilities, victims of crime, and underprivileged children and adults in multiple settings.

Kelsey White
I was a teacher in Missouri for 10 years before moving to Kansas in April 2023. I work at HS/EHS as a Family Service Worker working alongside families in 5 counties to help them with resources and education as well as giving the family the tools to help their child/children succeed. My other job is a Registered Behavioral Tech doing ABA Therapy with children in Clay and surrounding counties. I am also an active member with the youth in my church and the communities of Riley and Clay.

When the coalition was formed, the founding members recognized the importance of including media partners, so we have been involved from the beginning. We continue this relationship not only because we see the value of having an open conversation about youth drug and alcohol trends, but also because we wanted to be part of the solution to reduce youth drug and alcohol use.

I am a local news reporter for KCLY radio. I am frequently attending events within Clay County and am always speaking with various community members as I gather and write news stories to keep our community informed. As a member of the local media, I keep a close eye on important developments within our community, I have lots of connections, I know where or how to find valuable information, and I know my way around the keyboard.
