
Clay Center Community High School students and YlinK members Aubrey Tadman, Kylee Shivers, Braylee Langvardt, Adalyn Pfizenmaier, and Emma Spellman presented at the National Community Anti Drug Coalitions of America National Conference in Chicago. They were sharing their "You Booze, You Lose" campaign. This initiative is targeting the reduction of underage drinking in Clay County.
Also attending the conference were 3,000 adults and 500 kids from every state in the nation and several foreign countries. The group of 7 youth and their sponsors attended the conference sponsored by the Clay Counts Coalition .
There was also a talent show showcasing the talents of 10 students from across the country. Spellman, a junior at CCCHS, was selected to present her interpretive dance depicting the Signs of Suicide. Spellman danced in the Grand Ballroom of the Historic Hilton Hotel, formerly the Steven's Hotel, which had also graced the presence of the Queen of England and Presidents John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan.
During this conference, CCCHS juniors Raaegann McDonald and Isabelle Blackwood also represented Kansas as members of the National Youth Advisory Board for The Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America National Convention.
"Our community can be so proud to have these fine young adults, finding their voices and using them for the greater good of our community and country," stated sponsor Lori Martin.
