CDC Youth Risk Behavior Survey shows promising signs

The new CDC Youth Risk Behavior Survey Data Summary & Trends Report highlights promising signs of improvement for some young people. From 2021 to 2023, there were:


  • Decreases in female students feeling persistently sad or hopeless and seriously considering attempting suicide.

  • Decreases in Hispanic students feeling persistently sad or hopeless, experiencing poor mental health, seriously considering attempting suicide, and making a suicide plan.

  • Decreases in Black students attempting suicide and being injured in a suicide attempt.
